Pioneering CLT projects
Our first project which was finished in mei 2021, is the in-house development of 12 Circular apartments on the Molslaan in Delft; the transformation of an existing school building into a three-layer city block with 4 houses per layer. In the design, the supporting structure and roof construction consist entirely of CLT walls and floors. This wooden construction remains visible on a large part of the walls and ceilings.
“The bigadvantage of building in CLT is that it is 80% lighter that concrete so no new foundation is needed at this location”.
Optimized construction solutions
The key optimization in this project was developing a single-leaf construction system that met all fire and noise requirements. In collaboration with our CLT builder JM Concepten, their timber consultant, and DGMR, we devised a solution featuring an acoustic pre-wall on one side of the separating walls. This approach allows one wall in each apartment to be finished, leaving the other three walls and the ceiling with exposed wood, highlighting the natural beauty of the material.
