The Elsenborch complex features 32 rental homes from Stadlander's core stock and will continue to be rented out by Stadlander in the coming decades. Additionally, Stadlander owns the garages and commercial spaces within the complex. The building will undergo an energy transformation by isolating the facades, and giving them a new appearance with biobased materials. The plint will be transformed into 12 additional apartments, connected to the green area around the building and embedding them in a green and social surrounding.
The Elsenborch complex is located in Gageldonk West, on the east side of Bergen op Zoom's center. The neighborhood features a typical post-war layout with a mix of detached houses and residential buildings, ranging from 3 to 6 floors. The brick architecture and typical gallery flats from the 1960s and 1970s are characteristic of the area.
The layout of the neighborhood includes several green areas, particularly around the residential buildings. New construction plans emphasize green avenues, rain gardens, and semi-open paving, giving the neighborhood an additional greenboost. The Elsenborch complex is situated near a small, private park, and the renovation presents an opportunity to increase greenery around the complex and explore opportunities for biodiversity.
The Elsenborch complex's transformation aims to provide high-quality social rental homes while enhancing the urban environment. This project exemplifies Stadlander's commitment to creating vibrant, sustainable communities.
