Summit and Transformation: Apartments Herestraat 91, 93 — “The Window”
A fresh look at urban living
In the center of Groningen is “Het Raam”, an architectural project that shows how summits and housing can contribute to the city in an innovative way. This complex, which extends over two roofs, offers 500 m² of living space that subtly blends into the city, but at the same time offers a whole new perspective on urban life.
Capping up as a smart transformation
Het Raam chose to top it up to create extra living space without disrupting the existing cityscape. The design was inspired by an enlarged 19th century window, with the rod embracing the rooms. Residents literally live in the window and have a panoramic view of the city, while also getting the feeling that the city is watching them.
Renovation with respect for the city
This project is not just a renovation, but a way to bring the city closer to itself. It fits perfectly into the existing urban structure, but offers a new layer to the experience of living in the city. The project is a great example of how housing transformation can contribute to urban density without sacrificing aesthetics and functionality.
A new dimension of urban living
The Window is a wonderful example of how architecture and summits can contribute to urban transformation. The project offers new living space in a busy city, with a design that both respects the past and makes room for the future.
