At a prominent location in Rotterdam's Kralingendistrict, a stately new building will soon rise. The junction of Oudedijk and Waterloostraat, once left vacant following the demolition of the former headbuilding for metro construction, will be revitalized with a four-story CLT structure containing four spacious apartments. This new addition will serve as the urban anchor for the street, seamlessly integrating into the city'sprotected architectural landscape.
Harmonious Design with Historic Context
The brick facade of the building complements the surrounding structures, but is enhanced with modern, refined materials,creating a warm, contemporary aesthetic. To maintain the views toward the neighboring Hoflaankerk, a local monument, the top floor is designed as a lighter, recessed volume with a brighter facade, blending modern design with respect for the historic surroundings.
Sustainable and Thoughtful Living
Constructed with Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), the building not only prioritizes sustainable practices but also offers a healthy, pleasant living environment for its residents. The natural warmth of the timber, combined with the thoughtful design, underscores the commitment to both environmental responsibility and high-quality urban living.

The development fills a long-standing urban void,creating a harmonious connection between the new and existing elements of the street. It embodies a blend of craftsmanship and modernity, adding a new layer of time to the historic urban fabric of Rotterdam.
